The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is already here with us and for the next four weeks, this is going to be one of the busiest times in Russia. In addition to traveling to this phenomenal country to enjoy watching your favorite team play, there are other great activities that you can enjoy while on your tour. Below are a few places that you may find worth knowing so you can plan your travels accordingly.

Moscow

This is the capital of Russia and the city remains one of the best places to familiarize oneself with the Russian culture and history. Moscow’s has everything a human eye would love to see. It particularly stands out due to its unique blend of ancient architecture from different eras that make sightseeing one of the most loved activities around here.

In addition to the trendy cafes and hotspots that don the place, there are other great experiences here like the Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral and the Kremlin gardens for true immersion. The good thing with Moscow is that the city can be easily traversed by the beautiful Moscow Metro.

Kaliningrad

This area lies within the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania. Kaliningrad can be best described as the Russian center of architecture. Although its architecture dates back to the middle ages, there are many modern cafes and parks that are easily accessible.

If you enjoy a relaxing walk, you can spend an afternoon or two walking through the winding center or better still, enjoy sunbathing on the sandy beaches or visit one of the many museums in the area.

Saint Petersburg

This is the former capital of Russia. It bears a lot of culture and history of Russia and it is believed to be one of the most European-influenced cities. You cannot claim a full visit to the area without visiting the Hermitage’s vast and breathtaking halls. Alternatively, you can head to the mosaic-filled Church of Spilled Blood and learn a thing or two about the place.

Nizhny Novgorod

Nizhny Novgorod is another excellent location for everyone visiting Russia. The area is within the grand rolling hills alongside the breathtaking Volga River. It has its own historic Kremlin that runs across the hills along with unique pedestrian-only streets.
